What is Brainspotting precisely?
Brainspotting is a relatively new, but particularly effective form of trauma therapy and personal growth. It is based on the discovery that where you look (your 'eye focus') influences how you feel. When you focus your eyes on a specific point in your field of vision, this can provide direct access to your deeper brain and your unconsciousness where you store your emotions, memories, and experiences.
During a Brainspotting session, I guide you to find a 'brainspot' – a specific eye position that is activated when you think of a particular emotion, problem, or trauma. Unprocessed emotions are often stuck in the deeper, primitive parts of our brain (such as the brainstem and the limbic system), where language has less influence.
